Mayor Janice S. Mironov proclaimed National Library Week, with the theme “Connect with Your Library” and recognized the important role of the two East Windsor libraries, Hickory Corner Branch and Twin Rivers Branch, of the Mercer County Library system. Mayor Mironov and Council Members Marc Lippman, Alan Rosenberg and John Zoller presented the Proclamation, along with Barnes and Noble gift certificates donated by Shiseido America, to Jeanne Murray, Branch Manager of the Twin Rivers Library branch and Sharon Galbraith Ryer, Branch Manager of the Hickory Corner Library branch, along with East Windsor Township Library Representative and Chairperson of Mercer County Library Commission Phyllis Anker, President of Friends of the Twin Rivers Library Alan Siskind, and President of Friends of the Hickory Corner Library Debbie Scherholz.
Mayor Mironov stated, “every year we celebrate National Library Week to recognize the great role our libraries play in East Windsor and to remind everyone of their local importance. Our libraries are wonderful treasures that have become a central focus for our community. On any given day, you will see students working on homework or helping each other with tutoring, individuals taking out books, movies and music, and families with young children enjoying all kinds of programs throughout the week. Our libraries also provide important services for residents, meeting spaces for community groups, and special events featuring speakers and movies throughout the year. We thank all of the people that help promote our libraries throughout the county and the municipality and the staff that are there day in and day out to help residents and make visiting the library such a great pleasure.”
The Mayoral Proclamation issued by Mayor Mironov states, “our public libraries safeguard the right of Americans to free access to read, learn and connect to information on all subjects and representing all points of view, serving as a cornerstone of our democracy,” and further encourages “all people to support and rediscover the wealth of resources and services available at the East Windsor Township libraries.”
