FOR RELEASE: May 6, 2024

EAST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP AWARDED $225,000 FEDERAL CDS 2024 FUNDING FOR PURCHASE OF NEW SENIOR TRANSPORTATION BUS

Mayor Janice S. Mironov announced that East Windsor Township has received in the FY 2024 federal appropriations funding of $225,000 for the purchase of a new bus for use for the Township Senior Citizen Transportation Services. East Windsor has an active extensive senior center program available to Township seniors, as well as Hightstown seniors through a shared service agreement.

Mayor Mironov stated, "We are excited and grateful to receive this federal award, which will help support an extremely worthwhile support service or seniors within our community. This funding, enabled through the active support and partnership of Senator Cory Booker, will enable the Township to enhance handicap accessible and reliable bus services offered to senior residents. Services will include transportation to and from the multi-purpose Senior Center, medical appointments, grocery shopping, general shopping and group trips."

"I'm proud to help deliver federal funding to support the senior citizens of East Windsor and Hightstown," said Senator Cory Booker. "This funding will provide handicap accessible, reliable bus service to assist senior residents with daily transportation needs, including trips to medical appointments and grocery shopping. I'm grateful to Mayor Mironov for her leadership and dedication to expanding these vital services."

Over the coming weeks, the Township will navigate the timelines and processes of the federal agencies to access and use the funds for this important purpose.
