EAST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP MAYOR JANICE MIRONOV RECOGNIZES BREAST CANCER AWARNESS MONTH OCTOBER 2024

Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Council Members, joined by Dance for the Cure representatives, issued a Mayoral Proclamation recognizing October 2024 as “Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” to raise awareness and highlighting the importance of early detection and research. The Proclamation also recognized Dance for the Cure, a local 100% volunteer-run non-profit organization, that is committed to the prevention and cure of breast cancer through the celebration of dance and assisting individuals navigating the challenges of breast cancer.

Dance for the Cure was co-founded by Kathleen Cirioli and Joanne Liscovitz after Kathleen’s breast cancer diagnosis in 1998, with the express purpose to raise awareness of breast cancer and educate the public on the importance of preventative healthcare, including annual mammograms, checkups, and self-exams, and has now evolved to offering direct financial assistance programs to assist individuals and families impacted by breast cancer. Mayor Mironov’s Proclamation highlights the impact Dance for the Cure has made locally and states, “Dance for the Cure has gifted over $1 million to individuals battling breast cancer in central New Jersey, and these gifts provide crucial financial assistance to cover medical expenses, living costs, and other needs that arise during a patient’s breast cancer journey.”

Mayor Mironov stated, “Breast Cancer Awareness Month highlights the importance of awareness and preventative measures, as early detection can save lives. Dance for the Cure has made it their mission to raise awareness and support individuals and their families who are navigating the unique challenges that often come with this type of diagnosis by providing them with assistance when they need it the most.  We are excited to recognize their good work and valuable contributions to our local community.”
