Patel Brothers Grocery to Open New Store in East Windsor Village on Princeton Highstown Road in East Windsor Township on May 28th

Mayor Janice S. Mironov announced that Patel Brothers Grocery will open in the former Genuardi’s in the East Windsor Village on Princeton Hightstown Road (Route 571) on May 28. A grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting by Mayor Janice Mironov, who will be joined by Township Council Members and store owners, has been scheduled for Thursday, May 28 at 9 am.

Patel Brothers is a U.S. based grocery retail chain which offers a full line of groceries including dry goods, frozen items and fresh produce. The company partners with renowned food wholesaler Raja Foods, which imports food products such as rice, spices, and juices from countries including England, Spain, India, Pakistan, China and Australia.

Mayor Mironov stated, “This will be a special day for East Windsor and for Patel Brothers as we cut the ribbon on their 50th grocery store. We are excited to welcome an experienced successfully established grocery chain to this available space as a shopping option for residents of our community.”

Mayor Mironov added, “Patel Brothers grocery store will immediately create approximately 20 full time jobs and many other part time jobs in our community, which is always a welcomed boost to our local economy. The decision of Patel Brothers grocery store to expand their company in East Windsor is another signal of the strong attraction of East Windsor and the Route 130 corridor area as a terrific location for new stores and restaurants.”

Patel Brothers grocery store, which opened their flagship store in 1974 in Chicago, Illinois, is a growing national chain with 49 locations in the United States and 3 locations in Canada. New Jersey locations include North Brunswick, South Amboy and Parsippany. Patel Brothers recently ranked #17 on the Saveur 100, an annual list of “favorite restaurants, food, drink, people, places and things” compiled by Saveur, a food and travel magazine.
