East Windsor Township Honors Volunteer Firefighters of the Year during Fire Prevention Week

East Windsor Township Mayor Janice S. Mironov proclaimed Fire Prevention Week and recognized Volunteer Firefighters of the Year, Gerald Laughlin of East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 and Adrian Ortizof East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2. Mayor Mironov presented Proclamations to Firefighters of the Year Gerald Laughlin and Adrian Ortiz, “expressing deep appreciation for their special and invaluable contributions and extraordinary dedication.” She noted that “volunteer firefighters Gerald Laughlin and Adrian Ortiz have devoted countless hours to public service, earning them much respect from Fire Company members and the entire East Windsor community."

Gerald Laughlin, who is currently serving as President, joined East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 in 2009 and also has served as Engineer, Lieutenant and Vice President. He is active on the Awards, Special Events, Uniforms, Installation Dinner, Insurance and Parades/Memorials Committees, as well as serving as Chairperson of the Long Range Planning and Finance Committees. He also is one of the Company’s delegates to the Mercer County Fireman’s Association.

Adrian Ortiz, who is currently serving as Vice President, joined East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 in 2011. Adrian Ortiz has responded to over 350 fire calls and attended over 100 training drills as well as numerous community events and prevention activities. He also has received awards for being a top responder, attending the most drills and the Knights of Columbus award.
