East Windsor Township Mayor Janice S. Mironov recognized 2012 Employees of the Year: Jennifer Santiago of the Township Manager’s office, Police Detective Joseph Gorski, and William Askenstedt, Director of Public Works and the entire Department of the Public Works.

Jennifer A. Santiago began her career with East Windsor Township as a student intern in the Municipal Clerk’s Office in 1992, where she was hired full time in 1993 and promoted twice. Jennifer was most recently promoted to the position of Secretary to the Township Manager on November 1, 2011, and also was recognized as Employee of the Year in 2011. Mayor Mironov stated, “Jennifer Santiago displays an outstanding work ethic and takes a genuine and commendable stake and responsibility in her work performance and the overall conduct of Township business, setting a positive example for her co-workers through her dedication and professionalism. She possesses a history of the departments which make her an invaluable asset to township officials, other employees and residents.”

Police Detective Joseph Gorski joined the Township Police Department on January 2, 2003. He coordinates the Township National Night Out event, serves as a D.A.R.E instructor in the township elementary schools, and is police liaison to the Domestic Violence Victim Response Team, working closely with Womanspace, the lead non-profit organization in Mercer County that provides crisis intervention and support for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Mayor Mironov stated, “Detective Joseph Gorski serves as a role model for the Police Department through his hard work and dedication, demonstrated by his efforts in many worthwhile community programs. He is a caring and conscientious employee, who consistently displays a positive, professional demeanor, especially when dealing with the public.”

William Askenstedt began his career with East Windsor Township over 28 years ago and has served as Director of Public Works since April 8, 1999. Mayor Mironov stated, “With Bill Askenstedt’s know-how and capable leadership, the dedicated and industrious Public Works employees responded to the unparalleled and widespread conditions throughout the Hurricane Sandy emergency and beyond. Bill Askenstedt is an extraordinarily talented, knowledgeable and energetic individual who exercises dynamic and effective leadership resulting in a highly performing and effective team in the Department of Public Works.” The Proclamation recognizes director Askenstedt, along with the Department, for excellent leadership and service in the Township’s sanitation collection, leaf collection, brush pick-up and chipping, roadway repair work and snow removal, as well as efforts during Sandy.

Mayor Mironov presented the three Employees with Proclamations at a public ceremony, noting, “We are proud of the special efforts and dedication which these three employees put into their job performance. They are excellent model employees.”
