East Windsor Township Mayor Janice Mironov Proclaims Emergency Medical Services Week and Recognizes EMT's of the Year

Mayor Janice S. Mironov proclaimed Emergency Medical Services Week and recognized and honored Kira Behen, East Windsor Rescue Squad, District I EMT of the Year and Amanda Brooks, East Windsor Rescue Squad, District II EMT of the Year.

Kira Behen, who first joined East Windsor Rescue Squad, District I in 2003, earned her Emergency Medical Technician certification in June 2004 and will test for her paramedic’s license in December 2011. Kira has held multiple positions within the East Windsor Rescue Squad, District I, including Vehicle Engineer, Cadet Advisor, Safety Officer, Lieutenant and Captain and currently serves as Deputy Chief of East Windsor Rescue Squad, District I, as well as working as an Active Crew Chief for both the ambulance and the rescue unit. Mayor Mironov in a Proclamation praises Kira Behen stating, “Kira Behen is personally responsible for two pediatric CPR saves and one adult CPR save, and used her vehicle rescue skills to assist in the extrication of three people trapped after a motor vehicle collision.”

Amanda Brooks, who first joined East Windsor Rescue Squad, District II in 2009, became an active member in 2010 and quickly proved her skills as an EMT and as a key component of the Squad’s operation. Amanda Brooks has ascended rapidly to Rescue Squad leadership currently serving as President, after previously holding other positions including Crew Chief, Cadet Advisor, and Secretary, in addition to training new members and covering shifts when necessary. Mayor Mironov in a Proclamation praises Amanda Brooks stating, “Amanda Brooks is a mentor and advisor to many Squad members, always taking the time to speak with them about personal problems or to train with them one-on-one to enhance their skills and EMT performance.”

Mayor Mironov congratulated both honorees stating, “Kira Behen and Amanda Brooks’ hard work, dedication and enthusiasm, as well as their countless hours of service, have earned them the respect of the members of both East Windsor Rescue Squads and the entire community."
