Mayor Janice S. Mironov announced that East Windsor Township is to receive $39,492.37 from the 2012 New Jersey Clean Communities Grant. The New Jersey Legislature created the Clean Communities Act to provide grants to towns and counties for litter pickup and removal programs. The yearly funding results from a dedicated tax on litter-generating products at manufacturing, distribution and retail levels.

Mayor Janice Mironov and the East Windsor Clean Communities Committee invite and encourage East Windsor community and school youth and adult groups to participate in the Township 2012 Adopt-A-Spot program. Mayor Mironov explained that participating groups “adopt” one of the public properties identified by the Committee and keep it clean during the year. A placard is erected on the site indicating that it has been “Adopted by” with the name of the group. The groups are expected to perform clean up 3 times a month from April 1 through November 1, 2012. To participate, interested groups should send a letter by March 26 to East Windsor Clean Communities Committee, ATTN: Mayor Janice Mironov, 16 Lanning Boulevard, East Windsor, New Jersey 08520.

Mayor Mironov added that, “the program has involved hundreds of young people and been a tremendous success in instilling community awareness and pride, while helping to support the community activities and community service of these worthwhile youth groups.”

The 2012 Clean Communities Committee members are: Chairperson Barry Fliegelman; Joseph LaMagna; Judith Miller; Arthur Radford; Richard Warren; student member Rohit Palayekar; Director of Public Works William Askenstedt, Council Member Alan Rosenberg, and Mayor Janice Mironov.
