East Windsor Township Receives $100,000 Grant from Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission Transportation and Community Development Initiative Program for East Windsor/New Jersey Turnpike Exit 8 Transportation and Development Study

Mayor Janice S. Mironov announced that the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) has awarded a $100,000 grant to East Windsor Township for a transportation and redevelopment study to review the impacts to the surrounding area of the reconfigured New Jersey Turnpike Exit 8. The Township had submitted an application for the grant in December 2011 under the DVRPC Transportation and Community Development Initiative program.

According to Mayor Mironov, “The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship of the transportation system changes as a result of the New Jersey Turnpike widening project on properties within the vicinity of the relocated and expanded Exit 8 interchange. The goal is to position East Windsor in the best manner to take advantage of development and redevelopment opportunities resulting from the Turnpike project.”

Mayor Mironov continued, “The study also will identify possible transportation and other infrastructure improvements to enhance and facilitate commercial development in this area. This study will assist with consideration of possible changes to the Township Master Plan, Land Use and Development Regulations, and Zoning Ordinance.”

Mayor Mironov stated, “East Windsor is excited and appreciative to receive this planning grant from the DVRPC which will identify appropriate development strategies and implementation steps to maximize and attract high value high quality appropriate business and commercial development. The Township also will use information obtained from this study to assist in possible land use regulation changes and in discussions with potential developers.”
