Mayor Janice S. Mironov issued a Mayoral Proclamation recognizing Boy Scouting Anniversary Week, February 3 to 9, 2019. Mayor Mironov presented the Proclamation, accompanied by private checks of support, to each of the local boy scout troops: Boy Scout Troop 59 represented by Scoutmaster Steven Sharpe, Boy Scout Troop 5700 represented by Scoutmaster Kenneth Mazurek and Troop Committee Chairman Denis Kenny, Boy Scout Troop 6284 represented by Assistant Scoutmaster Francis Guzik, Troop Committee Chairman Joel Greenberg, and Troop Committee Member Arthur Wilton, Cub Scout Pack 53 represented by Cubmaster Rob Lisk and Troop Committee Member Gayle Wilton.
The Mayoral Proclamation, noting that the Boy Scouts of America was officially founded in 1910 and celebrating its 109th anniversary, praised Boy Scouting as a “youth program of character development, value-based programs and leadership training” and further stated “the Boy Scouts have continued to set an excellent example for all through their volunteerism, commitment to others, and dedication to bettering themselves and their communities." Mayor Mironov’s Proclamation "expressed appreciation to and commended the outstanding work of the Boy Scout organization, their scout members, leaders and volunteers in our community."
Mayor Mironov expressed her “enthusiastic support of the local Boy Scout organizations,” noting “We have a tradition of recognizing the four local Boy Scout Troops in honor of Scouting Anniversary Week and the great opportunities scouting provides young people in East Windsor. We are fortunate to have an incredibly robust and caring Boy Scouting organization here in East Windsor, with a lot of Scoutmasters, leaders, and parents giving their time to support and guide this positive organization, dedicated to instilling strong values, teaching them skills, and helping them to grow and mature into fine young citizens in our community and our nation that are committed to public service. For the Scouts that make up the organization, you give your time to learn skills, attend meetings and events, and earn badges to move up in the ranks of the organization, and we have been proud to partner with so many Scouts for their Eagle Projects, which have been a great benefit to the community.”
