Mayor Janice S. Mironov, joined by Deputy Mayor Peter Yeager, Council Members Alan Rosenberg and John Zoller, and restaurant owner Pawan Kumar Lanka, celebrated the grand opening of Cake Walk Indian Bakery and Restaurant. The new restaurant is located in the Carduner Center at the northwest corner of Route 571 and Route 130 next to the new Verizon store.
Cake Walk, occupying 2,500 square feet, specializes in the fusion of western and Indian taste in bakery products as cakes, varied pastries, cupcakes and cookies, with a bakery counter display in front. Cake Walk also is a full service sit-down restaurant offering Mumbai street food, sandwiches, wraps, paninis, South Indian (Dakshin) dishes plus kids specials, along with Indian traditional coffee, tea, juices and ice cream. Further, the establishment caters and prepares unique cakes for weddings and special events.
Mayor Mironov stated, “Cake Walk Indian Bakery and Restaurant is a fine and interesting new food establishment in our community, offering a variety of bakery goods and Southern India food, complementing the popular Plainsboro location. The bakery/restaurant owners have a great deal of experience and demonstrated success in their prior endeavors. It is a great addition to the supremely well located and visible Carduner Center which has recently announced six new tenants offering a variety of goods and services to residents.”
The owners ran a similar business in India and brought the idea to the United States eight years ago and now are offering franchise opportunities. Cake Walk has operated another local bakery/restaurant in Plainsboro for the past eight years. The kitchen staff features bakers from India as well as locally trained bakers. Current hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, 10:00 am to 10:00 pm, and Friday through Sunday, 10 am to 10:30 pm. For further information, visit their website at www.cakewalkonline.com.
