Mayor Janice S. Mironov proclaimed Emergency Medical Services Week May 15 to 21, and recognized local volunteers for the Township rescue squads. Mayor Mironov presented Proclamations to Chief Robert Manlio of East Windsor Rescue Squad, District 1 and President Arlen Forst of East Windsor Township EMS #2.

Mayor Mironov’s Proclamation noted, “the provision of emergency medical services is a vital public service resulting in lifesaving care to those in need 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and each year residents and visitors to East Windsor Township require emergency medical care for traumatic injuries, burns, poisonings, spinal cord injuries, heart attacks and other critical medical emergencies; and emergency care volunteers, including Emergency Medical Dispatchers, First Responders, First Aiders, Emergency Medical Technicians, Emergency Medical Technician-Defibrillators and Paramedics give selflessly of themselves for the welfare of others.” The Mayoral Proclamation continued, “Volunteer members of East Windsor Township’s rescue squads engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and continuing education to enhance their lifesaving skills and give selflessly of themselves by providing emergency medical services in an exemplary manner.”

Mayor Mironov expressed “deep appreciation to the emergency medical service volunteers and their tremendous dedication and sensitive care they provide to our residents.” Mayor Mironov’s Proclamation states, “It is appropriate to recognize the value and the accomplishments of emergency service medical providers by designating Emergency Medical Services Week in East Windsor Township, and encourage the community to observe this week with appropriate programs, ceremonies, activities and support for our local volunteers, and recognize and express deep appreciation for the special and invaluable contributions and extraordinary dedication of local emergency medical service volunteers.”

Chief Robert Manlio of East Windsor Rescue Squad, District 1, indicated his appreciation to Mayor and Council for the recognition. He encouraged people especially young people to consider volunteering with the squad as a means of learning new skills and a satisfying and important means of serving the community.
