  1. ALERT:   Route 130/Hankins Road/Conover Road Realignment Project Work Continues with the relocation of a gas main by PSE&G.  Conover Road will be TEMPORARILY CLOSED to through traffic at the Route 130 intersection for up to 3 days beginning on or about Tuesday, September 3 from 7 A.M. to 3 P.M.  Detours will be posted.  The improvement project provides for Route 130, Hankins Road and Conover Road to be realigned to meet at a single point controlled by a traffic signal and allowing for all left-turn movements.  Upon completion, drivers will be able to make signal protected left turns from Route 130 South onto Conover Road and from Conover Road onto Route 130 South, and allow direct access across Route 130 from Conover Road to Hankins Road.  This realignment project includes drainage improvements and the relocation of existing utilities.  The project is partially funded by a $525,000 grant from the New Jersey Department of Transportation.  A December 1 completion date is anticipated, weather permitting.
  2. ALERT:   Mercer County Has Scheduled a Roadway Resurfacing Project on North Main Street (County Route 539) between Town Center Road and Wyckoff Mills Road, Beginning on or about Tuesday, September 3, with completion anticipated on September 16, weather dependent.  During construction, this portion of North Main Street will be closed to through traffic Monday through Friday, from 9 A.M.to 3:30 P.M.  Detours will be posted.  Access for local businesses and residents will be permitted.
  3. REMINDER:   Township Offices Will Be CLOSED and No Township Curbside Garbage Collection Will Occur on Monday, September 2 Due to the Labor Day Holiday.  Residents of Area #1, who would normally have garbage collection on Monday, September 2, are to put their garbage out on the next regularly scheduled collection date which is Thursday, September 5.  Visit the Township website (CLICK HERE) for additional garbage collection information.
  4. Ceremony for Anniversary of 9/11 Will Be Held on Wednesday, September 11 at 5:30 P.M. to remember and honor the anniversary of September 11.  The ceremony will take place at the existing 9/11 Memorial located on the grounds of the East Windsor Township Municipal Building, at 16 Lanning Boulevard.  The public is welcome to join us. 
  5. Child Passenger Safety Seat Inspection Initiative, Funded by $6,000 NJ Highway Traffic Safety Grant, Will Hold Final Session on Friday, September 13 from 3 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the East Windsor police/court building (80 One Mile Road).  The FREE Child Passenger Safety Seat inspections for Township residents, hosted by Mayor Janice S. Mironov, Members of Council and the police department, are to promote child passenger safety. Participants will have their child seats inspected to ensure proper installation and will receive educational materials regarding current state child restraint laws.
  6. East Windsor Township Will Hold Recycling Day on Saturday, September 21 from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M., rain or shine, at the East Windsor Senior Center, located at 40 Lanning Boulevard.  This Township event is sponsored by Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Members of Council, in conjunction with the East Windsor Clean Communities Committee.  Free document shredding will be available to East Windsor residents.  There is a limit of ten boxes per household, and no commercial drop-offs are permitted.  Residents also will be able to drop off cell phones, fluorescent bulbs and toner cartridges, as well as used electronics, computers, computer equipment and televisions.  The East Windsor/Hightstown Lions Club will be collecting used eye glasses.  RISE will have trucks on-site to collect useable clothing, shoes, blankets, housewares (plates, mugs and related items) and working household appliances and electronics.  For further information, call (609) 443-4000, ext. 215.
  7. Vote By Mail Applications for the November 5, 2019 Election Are Available for Filing with the Mercer County Clerk.  New Jersey law allows residents who are registered to vote to vote by mail for any reason.  College students attending school outside the area are urged to apply as soon as possible if they do not plan on returning home to vote in the election.  Vote-by-Mail applications are available at the Municipal Clerk’s office in the East Windsor Municipal Building, and at the Mercer County Connection Office in the Hamilton Square Shopping Center located at the corner of Route 33 and Paxson Avenue, or on-line at the New Jersey Division of Elections website (CLICK HERE) to download the Vote-By-Mail application.  Applications cannot be accepted by facsimile or email.  Mailed applications must be received at least seven days prior to the election.  Voters can also walk into the County Clerk's office in Trenton and apply until 3 P.M. the day before an election.  Questions can be directed to the municipal clerk's office at (609) 443-4000, ext. 238.
  8. East Windsor Is Seeking Nominations for the 2019 Township Business Awards Program.  The purpose of the program is to recognize local businesses that make special efforts to improve or contribute to the community.  The three categories of Township award recognition are:   (1) Business Beautification - creating an attractive appearance, for example, through landscaping, flowers, and other enhancements to their structures and site;  (2) Community Service - providing for community contributions and service, and (3) Community Enhancement - providing some manner of community enhancement, for example, through extraordinary job creation, an unusual or special product or opportunity or any community value added aspect related to their business.  Green and sustainable practices, for example, green products, energy conservation, reduction of waste and energy consumption are encouraged and will be given more weight.  Nomination forms are available at the Municipal Building and on-line at the Township website at (CLICK HERE).  The deadline for nominations is September 20.
  9. ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS:  Volunteer Opportunity in Television Broadcasting Available.  If you are interested in broadcasting and would like hands-on training on a live, local television program, opportunities are available to work with the award winning "Spotlight East Windsor" program, one hour every other Wednesday night, at the East Windsor Municipal Building.  Volunteers will learn camera techniques, audio, lighting, video switching, videotape operation and much more.  Those interested should contact the Municipal Clerk’s office at (609) 443-4000, ext. 237 and leave your name and contact information.
