  1. East Windsor Mayor and Council Kick-Off Bicycle Helmet Giveaway Program "Use Your Head" for "Bicycle Safety Month," whereby residents age 5 through 16 can receive a bicycle helmet, at no cost. The remaining sessions are on Wednesday May 24 and Wednesday, June 7, from 4 pm to 7 pm, at the East Windsor Municipal Building. After viewing a brief 5 minute video on the importance of bicycle helmets and bicycle safety, participants will be measured and given a properly fitted bicycle helmet, along with safety literature. This is the first of a two phase bicycle safety program running until August.

  2. Mayor Janice S. Mironov Presented Annual State of the Township Address on May 5 at MIDJersey Chamber of Commerce Meeting at the Holiday Inn East Windsor. The Mayor's address recapped the "Top 21" of the past year, providing updates on major commercial and Township projects.   3. Mayor Janice S. Mironov Proclaimed April 28 Arbor Day and Visited the Perry L. Drew Elementary School to speak with 3rd grade students about Arbor Day and to distribute tublings, along with planting instructions, which the students were able to bring home to be planted. The Mayoral Proclamation recognizes the purpose of Arbor Day "to encourage the planting of shade and forest trees, which trees can reduce the erosion of our precious topsoil by wind and water, cut heating and cooling costs, moderate the temperature, clean the air, produce oxygen and provide habitat for wildlife."


    Mayor Mironov proclaimed April 28 as Arbor Day and presented Proclamation and tublings to the third grade students of the Perry L. Drew elementary school.   4. Township and Mercer County Will Hold Another Special Passport Day on Thursday, May 25, from 10 am to 3 pm at the East Windsor Municipal Building (16 Lanning Boulevard). Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami-Covello are sponsoring this special Passport Day locally at which the Mercer County Clerk's Office will process United States passport applications on-site for residents. Residents can just show up, but are encouraged to call (609) 989-6473 to reserve a specific appointment time. To apply, residents will need: (1) proof of U.S. citizenship in the form of a state certified birth certificate, a U.S. naturalization certificate or a previous U.S. passport, and (2) proof of identity in the form of a current driver's license or state issued identification card. Cost of the passport is $110 for adults, and $80 for minors, plus a processing fee of $25. Passport photos can be taken on-site if needed for $15 or $10 for senior citizens. Only checks or money orders will be accepted.   5. Last Day to Register to Vote in the June 6 Primary Election is Tuesday, May 16. For individuals who wish to Vote by Mail, the deadline to apply is Friday, May 26 by mail and Monday, June 5 by 3 pm in person. Mail ballots must be received by Mercer County by Election Day. Registration forms and vote by mail application forms can be obtained at the municipal building or on-line at www.njelections.org. Questions can be directed to the municipal clerk's office at (609) 443-4000, ext. 237.
  6. Hightstown-East Windsor Memorial Day Parade Is Monday, May 29, and will kick-off at 9 am on Stockton Street and proceed through the center of Hightstown. The annual community event will feature many local groups including veterans associations, rescue squads and fire companies, school musical groups, scout organizations, religious organizations, and other area participants. At the completion of the parade, refreshments will be served at VFW Post 5700 on Dutch Neck Road.
