- Mayor Janice S. Mironov Announced New Professional Substance Abuse and Mental Health Support Services for East Windsor, Provided by Family Guidance Center and Funded by Mercer County, Commencing Tuesday, October 3. The agency clinician is available Tuesdays 2 pm to 7 pm and Thursdays 2 pm to 6 pm, at the Western Monmouth County YMCA facility at 230 Mercer Street, Route 33, by appointment only at (609) 731-2461. A regular program entitled "Parenting Wisely, by Mercer Council on Alcoholism and Drug Addiction," will be offered with weekly sessions starting evenings on Wednesday, October 4, to increase parental communications and coping mechanisms for those with children who are at risk or exhibiting behavioral problems. To register, call (609) 396-5874, ext. 209. On Wednesday, October 11, from 5 pm to 7 pm, an Open House will be hosted by Family Guidance Center and partner orgnizations at the new offices. This event is an opportunity to meet the staff, tour the facilities and obtain further information concerning these new local initiatives and programs.
In making the announcement, Mayor Janice Mironov stated: "This new anti-substance abuse mental health initiative which provides professional clinical services based right here in our community is an exciting highly needed step forward in making available local options to assist local individuals at risk. We are grateful to the Mercer County Department of Human Services for their on-going assistance in identifying start-up funds and the necessary steps, the Western Monmouth County YMCA and their CEO Cynthia Joy for housing this project, and the many concerned local citizens and parents who have made their voices heard and joined together with us at several meetings to push for implementation of these vital professional services and other support opportunities. We have much work ahead of us to make these new service efforts widely known and successfully utilized, and thereafter build upon and expand these initial steps to further serve the needs of our community."
- Aurobindo Pharma USA Celebrates Grand Opening of New State-of-the-Art 567,000 Square Foot Distribution Center, located on Windsor Center Drive across from Route 133, along the Route 571 corridor. The new facility contains warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, and research and development operations for Aurobindo, an India-based pharmaceutical company that makes a wide variety of generic drugs. The building also contains a one-of-its-kind ultra-high density automatic storage and retrieval warehousing system capable of controlling and tracking full pallets of product from production to the loading bay. The Aurobindo center will generate additional tax dollars and add over 300 new jobs to the Township when fully operational. In January 2017, Aurobindo USA transformed the East Windsor campus into U.S. Corporate Headquarters and moved its administrative offices with 122 employees to the adjoining existing 43,000 square foot Patscentre building on Route 571 just east of Route 535, designed by renowned British architect Sir Richard Rodgers who is best known for the Pompidou Cultural Center in Paris. Aurobindo is another great fit within the Township Einstein's Alley designation and vision, to promote and expand pharmaceutical and biotech companies.

- East Windsor Township Will Hold Recycling Day on Saturday, October 14 from 10 am to 2 pm, rain or shine, at the East Windsor Senior Center, located at 40 Lanning Boulevard. This Township event is sponsored by Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Members of Council, in conjunction with the East Windsor Clean Communities Committee. Free document shredding will be available to East Windsor residents. There is a limit of ten boxes per household, and no commercial drop-offs are permitted. Residents also will be able to drop off cell phones, fluorescent bulbs and toner cartridges, as well as used electronics, computers, computer equipment and televisions. The East Windsor/Hightstown Lions Club will be collecting used eye glasses. RISE will have trucks on-site to collect useable clothing, shoes, blankets, housewares (plates, mugs and related items) and working household appliances and electronics. - Mercer County Hazardous Waste Collection and Electronics Recycling Event Will Be Held on Saturday, October 7, from 8 am to 2 pm, rain or shine, at the John T. Dempster Fire School, located on Bakers Basin/Lawrence Station Road in Lawrence Township. Residents can dispose of aerosol cans, used motor oil, propane gas tanks, pesticides, herbicides, car batteries, paint thinner, oil based paint, stains and varnishes, gasoline, anti-freeze, driveway sealer, insect repellents, and fluorescent and compact fluorescent bulbs. Used electronic equipment including computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, stereos, televisions and microwaves will be accepted. Proof of Mercer County residency required. - High School Students Invited to Serve as Student Members of East Windsor Township Boards and Commissions. The boards and commissions included in the program are Commission on Aging, Clean Communities Committee, Economic Development Commission, Environmental Commission, Health Advisory Committee and Recreation Commission, as well as the East Windsor Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse. - ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: Volunteer Opportunity in Television Broadcasting Available. If you are interested in broadcasting and would like hands-on training on a live, local television program, opportunities are available to work with the award winning "Spotlight East Windsor" program, one hour every other Wednesday night, at the East Windsor Municipal Building. Volunteers will learn camera techniques, audio, lighting, video switching, videotape operation and much more.
