  1. Deadline to Apply to Vote By Mail Ballot in the Tuesday, November 7 Election Is Monday, November 6 by 3 pm if you submit your application in person.  The Mercer County Clerk's Office (240 W. State Street, 7th Floor, Trenton) and Superintendent of Elections (640 South Broad Street, Room B-08, Trenton) will both hold extended weekend hours to accept Vote By Mail Applications Tomorrow, Saturday, November 4, from 9 am to 1 pm and Sunday, November 5, from 10 am to 2 pm.  The Mercer County Board of Elections (640 South Broad Street, Room B-08, Trenton) will hold extended weekend hours to accept Vote By Mail Ballots Tomorrow, Saturday November 4 from 9 am to 2 pm and Sunday, November 5 from 10 am to 3 pm.  Vote By Mail applications forms also can be obtained on-line at www.njelections.org.  Questions can be directed to the municipal clerk's office at (609) 443-4000, ext. 240.
  2. East Windsor Will Hold Free Rabies Clinics for dog and cat owners Tomorrow, Saturday, November 4, from 1 pm to 3 pm at East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 (51 One Mile Road) and on Saturday, November 11, from 1 pm to 3 pm at East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 (69 Twin Rivers Drive).  Owners will be required to show a certificate of previous rabies vaccination;  otherwise vaccinations of one year duration only will be provided.  For safety, all animals must be properly restrained by leash or carried.  For more information, contact the Animal Control Officer at (609) 448-5678, ext. 229 or visit www.east-windsor.nj.us (click on "Police Department" then "Animal Control").
  3. East Windsor Encourages Residents to Support and Participate in Womanspace "Communities of Light" Scheduled for Monday, December 4Residents are encouraged to support the event by purchasing candles and gathering with local elected officials and police on Monday, December 4, at 5 pm to light up the East Windsor Municipal Building, followed by refreshments.  Citizens can participate by purchasing luminary kits, containing six candles, for $10 each, at the East Windsor Police/Court Building (80 One Mile Road) at any time, or at the East Windsor Municipal Building (16 Lanning Boulevard) Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, and bringing the luminary kits to the event.  All proceeds will go 100% directly to Womanspace, the primary Mercer County organization providing a comprehensive array of services to individuals affected by domestic violence and dedicated to improving the quality of life of abuse victims and their families.  For further information, call (609) 448-5678, ext. 231.


    Communities of Light luminary kits, with six candles, are available at the East Windsor Township Municipal Building (16 Lanning Boulevard) and East Windsor Police/Municipal Court Building (80 One Mile Road) for $10.  East Windsor officials and citizens will assemble on December 4 at 5 pm to light up the East Windsor Municipal Building, as a beacon of hope for the victims of domestic violence and their families.  All of the proceeds for the luminary sales go to support Womanspace, the primary Mercer County organization providing a comprehensive array of services to individuals affected by domestic violence and dedicated to improving the quality of life of abuse victims and their families. 
  4. East Windsor Township Mayor and Council Encourage Citizens to Volunteer for Township Boards and Committees.  Citizens can apply to serve on the Clean Communities Advisory Committee, Commission on Aging, East Windsor Municipal Utilities Authority, Economic Development Committee, Environmental Commission, Health Advisory Board, Planning Board, Recreation Commission, Zoning Board of Adjustment and the East Windsor Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse.  Residents interested in volunteering can obtain an application form from the municipal clerk or can fill out this form (CLICK HERE) and return by email to clerk@east-windsor.nj.us, by fax to (609) 443-8303, or by mail to Mayor Janice S.   5. Sherwin Williams Opens in Newly Constructed The Shoppes at East Windsor on Route 130 South.  The 3,863 square foot store includes paints, painting supplies, wall paper and stains for both professional contractors as well as do-it-yourself homeowners.  Sherwin Williams is the nation's largest specialty retailer of paint and painting supplies with over 4,000 locations.  Current hours of operation are:  Monday through Friday, 7 am to 7 pm;  Saturday, 8 am to 6 pm, and Sunday, 10 am to 6 pm.  For more information, visit www.sherwin-williams.com.

  6. East Windsor Township Police Department Awarded $6,081 in Federal and State Grants For Police Body Armor.  The grant funds include $2,046 received under the United States Department of Justice Bullet Proof Vest Partnership and $4,035 under the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice State Body Armor Replacement Fund Program.  The grant funds are used to supplement Township expenditures for the periodic replacement of body armor issued to and used by Township police.  Since 2014, East Windsor has received over $42,000 in federal and state grants to fund the replacement of police body armor.
  7. Mercer County Improvement Authority Holds Recycling/Paper Shredding Day Tomorrow, Saturday, November 4, from 9 am to 2 pm, Rain or Shine, in Parking Lot 4, South Broad Street, Trenton (directly across from County Administration Building at 640 South Broad Street).  Accepted electronic items include televisions, VCRs, computers and monitors, laptops, keyboards, circuit boards, printers, copiers, fax machines, scanners, phones, camera equipment, microwaves, and stereo equipment.  For further information, visit the MCA website at www.mcianj.org or call (609) 278-8086.
  8. East Windsor "Operation Medicine Cabinet" Held on Saturday, October 28 Collected Additional 69.4 Pounds, Resulting in a Total of 354.4 Pounds, of unused and expired prescription medications, which were turned over to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.  "Operation Medicine Cabinet" provides a secure and legal means to dispose of these prescription medications in an environmentally responsible manner and reduces possible access by unauthorized persons and young people to these drugs.  The Township maintains a year-round 24/7 accessible permanent medicine drop box in the lobby of the police/court building.
  9. East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 Fortieth Anniversary Documentary to Begin Airing Wednesday, November 8, at 7:30 pm, on the East Windsor Local Channel Comcast 27/Verizon 38.  The 30 minute video, produced by Dick Cunningham, was created to commemorate the Company's 40th year milestone.  The video will air immediately following all airings of Mayor Mironov's Spotlight East Windsor program.
  10. East Windsor Honors East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 Firefighter of the Year Michael Frey for his volunteer fire service dedication.  Michael Frey was presented with a Proclamation from Mayor Janice S. Mironov in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week.  Michael Frey joined East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 in 2012, and graduated as Valedictorian from the Mercer County Fire Academy.  He has served in several leadership positions including Engineer, Assistant Treasurer, and currently serving as Recording Secretary and Trustee and as Lieutenant since 2016.  Michael Frey has embraced the Engineer position, fixing items to working condition and teaching younger members about equipment, trucks and his knowledge of ropes and knots.  In 2016, Michael Frey responded to 242 calls and attended 24 training drills, and 19 work-details for a total of 285 firematic hours.  Michael Frey further demonstrates his strong community spirit by training and serving as a NJ Emergency Medical Technician and volunteering with East Windsor Rescue Squad, District 1.  Thank you to all of our great fire company volunteers!

ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS:   Volunteer Opportunity in Television Broadcasting Available.  If you are interested in broadcasting and would like hands-on training on a live, local television program, opportunities are available to work with the award winning "Spotlight East Windsor" program, one hour every other Wednesday night, at the East Windsor Municipal Building.  Volunteers will learn camera techniques, audio, lighting, video switching, videotape operation and much more.  Interested individuals should contact the Municipal Clerk’s office at (609) 443-4000, ext. 237 and provide your name and contact information.  For technical information, contact Dick Cunningham at (609) 443-1199.
