May 12, 2020 CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) UPDATE
Mercer County has reported, as of May 12, 2020, there have been 33 new cases for a total of 5,426 Confirmed COVID-19 Cases to date, and 9 additional deaths for a total, sadly, of 349 deaths in Mercer County. All active cases are either at home self-isolating or admitted to the hospital. The State of New Jersey today reported 798 additional Confirmed COVID-19 Cases for a current total of 140,743 cases, and 198 additional deaths for a total of 9,508 COVID-19 related deaths statewide. It is important that everyone continue practicing social distancing, following the advice and directives of health care professionals and government officials, and using good sense, so we can all get through this difficult period together. EAST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP UPDATE AND REMINDERS GARBAGE COLLECTION AND RELATED SERVICES REMINDER: An update to temporary service changes, will restore tomorrow, Wednesday, May 13, normal Township Wednesday collection schedules for Bulk Trash Collection and for White Goods, including appliances and metal waste. MERCER COUNTY UPDATE AND REMINDERS REMINDER: A Walk-Up COVID-19 Test Site is now opened in Hightstown on Fridays at 12 Noon in the parking lot of St. Anthony of Padua Church, 156 Maxwell Avenue, for individuals who lack transportation to the Quakerbridge Mall. Testing will be provided for symptomatic Mercer County residents age 18 or older who have a doctor's prescription and by appointment-only. Call (609) 337-4081 Monday through Friday between 8:30 A.M. and 4:30 P.M. with any questions about the testing process. STATE OF NEW JERSEY UPDATES Colonel Patrick J. Callahan, State Director of Emergency Management, on May 9, 2020, issued updated clarification regarding Executive Order 107, about graduation-related events for the Class of 2020 and student celebrations generally. It states the following: “In light of the components of Executive Order No. 107, and in the best interest of the health and safety of the public, in-person ceremonies, including graduations, all parades, including "wave parades," that invite people to gather at a certain location, proms, and other similar celebrations violate the enumerated conditions of the order, and should, therefore, be canceled or postponed until such time as these restrictions are lifted. Until such time, virtual celebrations and other remote forms of recognition should take the place of any in-person or public ceremonies.” Therefore, the “wave” parade by East Windsor Regional School District Staff scheduled for Thursday, May 14 will no longer take place. The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission has added to its offering of web-based transactions, expanding the types of vehicles eligible for online registration renewals and replacements. The additional vehicle registration categories range from four-year commercial trailers to commuter vans and ATVs and will result in over 50,000 new online transactions.
