STATE OF NEW JERSEY UPDATES

Governor Murphy, together with New York Governor Cuomo and Connecticut Governor Lamont, on June 24 announced a TRI-STATE ADVISORY AND RESTRICTIONS for individuals traveling from states with high COVID-19 rates, effective today June 25 at 12:01 A.M.  Individuals are required to quarantine for a 14 day period upon arriving from a state with a positive test rate higher than 10 per 100,000 residents or with a 10% or higher positivity rate over a 7 day rolling average.  New Jersey, New York and Connecticut will continually update and publish on their respective websites a list of states to which the new advisory applies.

Governor Murphy signed Executive Order No. 156 (CLICK HERE) on June 22 INCREASING OUTDOOR AND INDOOR GATHERING LIMITS  effective immediately, as follows:

  • Indoor gatherings are 25% capacity of the rooms in which they will take place, with the maximum increased from 50 persons to 100 persons.
  • Outdoor gatherings are increased from 100 persons to 250 persons, with outdoor religious services and political activities having no numerical limits.

The Order also clarifies that for the purposes of outdoor dining, “outdoor areas” are to be defined as open air spaces without a fixed roof, besides a temporary or seasonal awning or cover.

Governor Murphy announced on June 23 that playgrounds and outdoor amusement parks and water parks can reopen on July 2.  Amusement Parks and boardwalk rides will be limited to 50% of typical guest capacity and social-distancing rules will be required on rides and in lines, with face coverings for guests and staff required where practicable

Governor Murphy also announced gyms and fitness centers will soon be allowed to reopen at reduced capacity.
