  1. ALERT: New Jersey Department of Transportation Route 133 Resurfacing Project Is Substantially Complete with Minor Work Remaining. Work will continue to take place during overnight hours, 7 P.M. to 7 A.M. Route 133 will remain open during non-work hours. Upcoming work includes final striping, paving of emergency access turns and punch list items. Residents should be alert to posted road and ramp closures and detours. NJDOT anticipates the project to be completed by August 31, weather permitting.
  2. East Windsor Township Online Auction of Surplus Property No Longer Needed for Public Operations, conducted by Municibid, began Monday, August 24 at 9 A.M. and will conclude August 31 by 9 P.M. Property, being sold "as is," includes 20 automobiles, 5 heavy duty vehicles, 6 bicycles, electronic equipment and other miscellaneous items. Bidders must register on the Municibid.com website to become eligible to participate.   3. Mayor and Council Award East Windsor Senior Center Expansion Project to Low Bidder, Develop Builders of New Milford, NJ. The expansion project will add significant space of about 5,000 square feet to the rear of the building and another 785 square feet to the north side of the building, to the existing 11,000 square foot building to accommodate the extensive growth in the senior center membership. The senior center expansion will be supported in part by a Mercer at Play grant award and a NJ Small Cities Community Development Block Grant. Construction work is planned to commence in September and continue into 2021.
  4. Mercer County Hazardous Waste Collection and Electronics Recycling Event Will Be Held on Friday, September 18, from 12 P.M. to 5 P.M. and Saturday, September 19, from 8 A.M. to 3 P.M., rain or shine, at the John T. Dempster Fire School, located at 350 Lawrence Station Road in Lawrence Township. No registration is required, just proof of Mercer County residency. Residents can dispose of aerosol cans, used motor oil, propane gas tanks, pesticides, herbicides, car batteries, paint thinner, oil based paints, gasoline, anti-freeze, driveway sealer, insect repellants, mercury, and fluorescent and compact fluorescent bulbs. Used electronic equipment, including computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, stereos, televisions, and microwaves will be accepted. Material will be accepted only with compliance with County Covid-19 protocol: one person limit per vehicle, residents must remain in vehicles, disposal items must be in trunk or back of vehicle, and containers will not be returned.   5. East Windsor Is Seeking Nominations for the 2020 Township Business Awards Program. The purpose of the program is to recognize local businesses that make special efforts to improve or contribute to the community. The three categories of Township award recognition are: (1) Business Beautification - creating an attractive appearance, for example, through landscaping, flowers, and other enhancements to their structures and site; (2) Community Service - providing for community contributions and service, and (3) Community Enhancement - providing some manner of community enhancement, for example, through extraordinary job creation, an unusual or special product or opportunity or any community value added aspect related to their business. Green and sustainable practices, for example, green products, energy conservation, reduction of waste and energy consumption are encouraged and will be given more weight. Nomination forms are available at the Municipal Building and on-line at the Township website at (CLICK HERE). The deadline for nominations is September 18.
  6. Local Students Present Check Donations for RISE and Jewish Family Childrens Service (JFCS) Earmarked for Food Distribution. The Velagapudi Family started a GoFundMe fundraiser to raise money for families in need during the COVID-19 health emergency. They raised $2,556, giving $1000 cash to RISE, and donating checks in the amount of $900 to JFCS and $1,000 to RISE, all raised and provided to support food distribution efforts in our local community. Hats off to our local caring young people!

  7. East Windsor Regional School District Has Issued Updates and Information Regarding School Opening which are available CLICK HERE.
  8. No Township Curbside Garbage Collection Will Occur on Monday, September 7 and All Township Offices Will Be CLOSED due to the Labor Day holiday. Residents of Area #1, who would normally have garbage collection on Monday, September 7, are to put their garbage out on the next regularly scheduled collection date which is Thursday, September 10.
