  1. Mayor Janice S. Mironov to Present State of the Township Address at MIDJersey Chamber of Commerce Luncheon on Thursday, May 24, at the East Windsor Holiday Inn (399 Monmouth Street). Mayor Mironov's annual State of the Township Address will include a report on accomplishments and new business in 2017 as well as 2018 goals. Networking begins at 11:30 am, followed by lunch at noon, and program beginning promptly at 12:30. All business and interested members of the community are invited to attend. The cost of this luncheon is $40 per member paying in advance, $45 at the door, and $55 for non-members.   2. Elementary School Winners of the Township Earth Day Recycling Poster Contest Were Recognized by Mayor Janice S. Mironov at Council Meeting. The poster contest theme was to promote the 4 R's of the Township Recycling Program: "Recycle, Reuse, Reduce, Rebuy." Winners received Mayoral Certificates of Recognition and gift certificates to Barnes and Noble, donated by corporate sponsor Shiseido America. The Grace N. Rogers School students were awarded the Earth Day Proclamation for the most participating students in the poster contest. All of the posters are on display in the East Windsor Municipal Building through May. Congratulations to all the participating students and to all of the winners!   3. Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Council Members Continue to Push Forward on Improvements to Reconstruct and Realign the Route 130/Hankins Road/Conover Road Intersection. The project purpose is to realign the intersection of Route 130, Hankins Road and Conover Road to meet at a single point controlled by a traffic signal, and allow for all left-turn movements. The project, long advocated and pursued by East Windsor elected officials, and cooperatively supported by the Robbinsville Township Mayor and officials, will enhance safety and facilitate vehicle flow in this area of Route 130. Fully engineered construction plans for this project are completed and have finally been approved by the New Jersey Department of Transportation, and all necessary permits have been issued by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. The Township will now proceed to solicit construction bids for the project, which is being funded with a $525,000 grant, successfully secured from NJDOT by the Mayor and Township Council, as well as the Township developer funded transportation improvement program.
  4. REMINDER: Township Environmental Commission Promotes Arbor Day with Free Distribution of Tree Seedlings on Saturday, May 5 (rain date Saturday, May 12), beginning at 9:30 am to 12 noon or until supplies run out. The Eastern Redbud 'Cercis canadensis' tubelings will be available on a first-come first-serve basis at the East Windsor Police Athletic League fields on Airport Road. Information about this variety can be found on www.arborday.org.
  5. Last Day to Register to Vote in the June 6 Primary Election is Tuesday, May 15. Registration forms can be obtained at the municipal building or on-line at www.njelections.org. Questions can be directed to the municipal clerk's office at (609) 443-4000, ext. 237.
  6. East Windsor "Operation Medicine Cabinet" on Saturday, April 28 Collected Additional 77.4 Pounds, Resulting in a Total of 364 Pounds, of unused and expired prescription medications, which were turned over to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. "Operation Medicine Cabinet" provides a secure and legal means to dispose of these prescription medications in an environmentally responsible manner and reduces possible access by unauthorized persons and young people to these drugs.
  7. East Windsor Promotes Township Memorial Tree Program During Arbor Day. The Memorial Tree Program offers residents a unique opportunity to provide a living memorial to a deceased relative or friend or in remembrance or commemoration of a special person, group or event, by the planting of a tree in the Township Memorial Tree Grove located on the grounds of the East Windsor municipal building. The tree, including tree planting and accompanying granite marker with the name of the deceased person or event to be remembered, can be ordered through the Public Works Department.
