  1. REMINDER:  Mercer County Hazardous Waste Collection and Electronics Recycling Event Will Be Held on Saturday, September 29, from 8 A.M. to 2 P.M., rain or shine, at the John T. Dempster Fire School, located on Bakers Basin/Lawrence Station Road in Lawrence Township.  No registration is required, just proof of Mercer County residency.  Residents can dispose of aerosol cans, used motor oil, propane gas tanks, pesticides, herbicides, car batteries, paint thinner, oil based paint, gasoline, anti-freeze, driveway sealer, insect repellents, and fluorescent and compact fluorescent bulbs.  Used electronic equipment, including computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, televisions, and microwaves will be accepted.  For further information, visit the MCIA website at www.mcianj.org or call (609) 278-8086.
  2. Improvements to Brooktree Road between Oak Creek Road and Dutch Neck Road and Wiltshire Road from Dutch Neck Road to Dorchester Drive Are Ongoing.  The entire project now is targeted to be completed by Friday, October 5, weather dependent.  The project, being performed by low bidder, Richard T. Barrett of Trenton, New Jersey, is funded by a New Jersey Department of Transportation $335,000 grant.  Work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 A.M. to 5 P.M.
  3. East Windsor Offers Free Flu Clinics on Thursday, October 11 and Tuesday, October 23, from 9:30 A.M. to 3 P.M. at the Township Senior Center (40 Lanning Boulevard), for all residents 60 years and older.  The vaccinations are by appointment only, by calling the Township Health Department at (609) 443-4000, ext. 222.
  4. Last Day to Register to Vote in the November 6 General Election is Tuesday, October 16 For individuals who wish to Vote by Mail, the deadline to apply is Tuesday, October 30 by mail and Monday, November 5 by 3 P.M. in person at the Office of the Mercer County Clerk.  Registration forms and vote by mail application forms can be obtained online at www.njelections.org.  Questions can be directed to the municipal clerk's office at (609) 443-4000, ext. 240.
  5. New Jersey Homestead Rebate Application Deadline Is Friday November 30, 2018The New Jersey Division of Taxation states the 2016 Homestead Benefit Application Packets were mailed or emailed on September 27.  Homeowners must file applications either online or by phone.  The online application, available at www.njtaxation.org, and the automated telephone filing system at 1-877-658-2972, are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  To be eligible, homeowners:  must own and occupy their home as their principle residence on October 1, 2016;  have a 2016 gross income not more than $150,000 for disabled homeowners or those 65 or older, as of December 31, 2016, or $75,000 in 2016 gross income for homeowners under 65 as of December 31, 2016 and not disabled;  must be permanent legal residents of New Jersey, and the home was subject to local property tax and the 2016 property taxes are paid.
  6. The New Jersey Department of Agriculture Has Issued a Quarantine in Mercer, Hunterdon and Warren Counties for the Spotted Lanternfly, an invasive planthopper native to Southeast Asia which poses a threat to forests, ornamental trees, orchards, vegetables, grapes, hops and other agricultural commodities.  Information regarding the Spotted Lanternfly quarantine and what residents can do to prevent accidental movement of this insect and help eliminate the insect from the state is available online at www.state.nj.us/agriculture/divisions/pi/prog/spottedlanternfly.html
  7. East Windsor Township Mayor and Council Encourage Citizens to Volunteer for Township Boards and Committees.  Citizens can apply to serve on the Clean Communities Advisory Committee, Commission on Aging, East Windsor Municipal Utilities Authority, Economic Development Committee, Environmental Commission, Health Advisory Board, Planning Board, Recreation Commission, Zoning Board of Adjustment and the East Windsor Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse.  Residents interested in volunteering can obtain an application form from the municipal clerk or can fill out this form (CLICK HERE) and return by email to clerk@east-windsor.nj.us, by fax to (609) 443-8303, or by mail to Mayor Janice S.   8. High School Students Invited to Serve as Student Members of East Windsor Township Boards and Commissions.  The boards and commissions included in the program are Commission on Aging, Clean Communities Committee, Economic Development Commission, Environmental Commission, Health Advisory Committee and Recreation Commission, as well as the East Windsor Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse.  High school students who wish to be considered should submit a letter indicating their area of interest and reasons or related background, by email to clerk@east-windsor.nj.us, by fax to (609) 443-8303 or by mail to Mayor Janice S.   9. ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS:   Volunteer Opportunity in Television Broadcasting Available.  If you are interested in broadcasting and would like hands-on training on a live, local television program, opportunities are available to work with the award winning "Spotlight East Windsor" program, one hour every other Wednesday night, at the East Windsor Municipal Building.  Volunteers will learn camera techniques, audio, lighting, video switching, videotape operation and much more.  Interested individuals should contact the Municipal Clerk’s office at (609) 443-4000, ext. 237 and provide your name and contact information.  For technical information, contact Dick Cunningham at (609) 443-1199.
