  1. REMINDER: Stream Cleanup Co-Sponsored by East Windsor Township and The Watershed Institute on Saturday, April 24, from 9 A.M. to 11 A.M. at Etra Lake Park, Rain or Shine. In order to comply with current health policies, PRE-REGISTRATION is required (CLICK HERE), Masks covering the mouth and nose are mandatory, and temperature checks will be performed upon arrival. Hand sanitizer will be available, but it is recommended that participants bring their own. Volunteers should wear closed-toed shoes and long pants and bring work gloves and a reusable water bottle. Trash bags will be provided. Adults must accompany minors.   2. REMINDER: East Windsor Will Participate in Operation Medicine Cabinet on Saturday, April 24 from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M., offering residents the opportunity to dispose of unused, unwanted and expired prescription medications in an environmentally responsible manner and reducing possible access by unauthorized persons and young people to these drugs. The Township has a drop box in the lobby of the police/court building at 80 One Mile Road for the collection of these various medications. This special one-day collaborative event with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is intended to focus community attention on the importance and opportunity for secure and responsible disposal of medications. Collected medications will be turned over to the DEA on the next business day for final disposal. The Township maintains a year-round 24/7 accessible permanent medicine drop box in the lobby of the police/court building.

  3. SPECIAL DOCUMENT SHREDDING EVENT NOTICE: Due to the overwhelming resident response to the April 17 Township Document Shredding Day, Mayor Mironov and Council Members Have Scheduled Another Document Shredding ONLY Event for SATURDAY, MAY 1 from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. at the East Windsor Senior Center (40 Lanning Boulevard). This event is FOR TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS ONLY. NO OTHER DROP-OFFS OR RECYCLING WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THIS EVENT.
  4. Mayor Janice S. Mironov Issued Proclamation for National Volunteer Week and Recognized RONALD BALINT of the Township Environmental Commission and East Windsor Green Team. Ronald Balint is a dedicated and valuable, caring leader for the local environment who truly exemplifies the spirit of volunteerism in local government and public service. Ronald Balint, a longtime East Windsor Township resident, who has been a member of the Environmental Commission since 2000 and serves as Chairperson, and in 2011, he was appointed Chairperson of the East Windsor Green Team. As Chairperson of the Environmental Commission, he has contributed to numerous Township initiatives and events focusing on caring for the environment, including initiating and executing the Etra Park Arboretum project, organizing and carrying out the annual Arbor Day Tree Tubeling Giveaway, and maintaining the Township Community Forestry Management Plan. As Chairperson of the East Windsor Green Team, Ronald Balint conscientiously and actively oversees and coordinates all application details of the Township Sustainable Jersey action items and certification submissions, which has successfully led to East Windsor Township earning the prestigious Bronze Level Certification in 2012 and Silver Level Certification in 2015 and 2018, and is in the process of finalizing the 2021 filing to renew the Township Silver Level Certification -- a prestigious achievement that reflects his hard work, dependability, resourcefulness, and commitment to sustainability. Ronald Balint, who is highly regarded for his professionalism, strong leadership, and tenacious work ethic, is an exceptional asset to the Township and has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the environment and volunteerism and has earned the respect and admiration of East Windsor Township elected officials, staff, and the community.

  5. Elementary School Winners of the Township Earth Day Recycling Poster Contest Were Recognized by Mayor Janice S. Mironov at the April 20 Council Meeting. The poster contest theme was to promote the 4 R's of the Township Recycling Program: "Recycle, Reuse, Reduce, Rebuy." Winners received Mayoral Certificates of Recognition and gift certificates to Barnes & Noble, donated by corporate sponsor Shiseido America. Congratulations to all the participating students and to all of the winners!

  6. Township Environmental Commission Promotes Arbor Day with Free Distribution of Tree Seedlings on Saturday, May 1 (rain date Saturday, May 8), beginning at 10 A.M. and continuing to 12 noon or until supplies run out at the East Windsor Police Athletic League fields on Airport Road. American Holly saplings, a wildlife-friendly evergreen tree, will be available on a first-come first-serve basis. Information about this variety can be found at www.arborday.org.
  7. East Windsor Promotes Township Memorial Tree Program During Arbor Day, which is celebrated on the last Friday of April. The Memorial Tree Program offers residents a unique opportunity to provide a living memorial to a deceased relative or friend or in remembrance or commemoration of a special person, group or event, by the planting of a tree in the Township Memorial Tree Grove located on the grounds of the East Windsor municipal building. The tree, including tree planting and accompanying granite marker with the name of the deceased person or event to be remembered, can be ordered through the Public Works Department.   8. PUBLIC NOTICE: East Windsor Municipal Utilities Authority (EWMUA) Will Begin Semi-Annual Hydrant Flushing to remove sediment from pipes, monitor water flows and pressures, and provide visual inspection of the hydrants during the overnight hours between 10 P.M. and 6 A.M. on the following dates: This schedule is subject to change due to conflicting work that must be done by EWMUA personnel. According to the EWMUA, customers may notice a drop in water pressure or may experience discolored water. At no time will the water quality be compromised, and the water is safe to use.
