  4. Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Council Members Issue Proclamation and Hold Observance Recognizing Juneteenth (June 19). The significance of Juneteenth is: On June 19, 1865, Major General Gordon Granger issued General Orders 3 in Galveston, Texas that "all slaves were free" and that there would be "equality of personal rights and rights of property between former masters and slaves". In theory, African Americans had already been freed for a little over two years following Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation, declaring that African Americans held in rebel territories were "and henceforward shall be free". This historic holiday honors the day the last African Americans learned of their freedom, and is a reminder to all citizens that we must continue to strive for equality and justice for all. 8. ADVISORY: East Windsor Officials Encourage Residents to Lookout for Phishing Emails. Phishing is a form of social engineering in which a threat actor attempts to trick victims into visiting a malicious website and disclosing sensitive information such as account login credentials, financial information, or personally identifiable information (PII), or opening a malicious attachment that installs malware onto their system. Phishing attacks can be conducted through email, social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, SMS text messages, or over the phone. Clone Phishing is a type of phishing attack whereby a legitimate, and previously delivered, email containing an attachment or link has had its content and recipient address(es) taken and used to create an almost identical or cloned email. The attachment or link within the email is replaced with a malicious version and then sent from an email address spoofed to appear to come from the original sender. Never click on links or open attachments delivered with unexpected or unsolicited emails, social media messages, or text messages. If you accidentally do click on a suspicious link or visit a phishing website, do not enter any personal information on the site and disconnect your device from the network as soon as possible. If you suspect that you may have received an email from the Township that is unsolicited or possibly a Clone Phishing attempt, you may contact the Township at (609) 443-4000, ext. 245 to verify its legitimacy.
