  1. East Windsor New Police Lieutenant Matthew Oehling and New Police Sergeant Robert Davison Are Promoted and Oaths of Office Administered to New Police Officers Chelsea Lyons and Andrew Smith Hired to Fill Open Positions. Lieutenant Matthew Oehling, hired in January 2006 after graduating from the Ocean County Police Academy, has served in Uniform Services as a Field Training Officer, Traffic Safety Officer, and Secondary and Primary Officer in Charge. In January 2020, Lieutenant Oehling was promoted to Sergeant, served as a platoon supervisor, then a Detective Sergeant as the Investigative Services Supervisor. Lieutenant Oehling has a Bachelor's Degree in Law and Criminal Justice from The College of New Jersey and a Master's Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Lieutenant Oehling will be assigned as Commander of Administrative Services. Sergeant Robert Davison, hired in October 2010 after graduating from the Cape May County Police Academy, has served in Uniform Services as a Field Training Officer and Primary and Secondary Officer in Charge. In February 2019, Sergeant Davison was assigned as a Detective to Investigative Services. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from The College of New Jersey and a Master's Degree in Administrative Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Sergeant Davison will be assigned as a platoon supervisor in Uniform Services. Police Officer Chelsea Lyons, who graduated from the Ocean County Police Academy in May 2021, previously worked as a Class II Special Law Enforcement Officer for the Point Pleasant Beach Police Department. Officer Lyons has been assigned to the Uniform Services Division. Police Officer Andrew Smith, who graduated from the Cape May County Police Academy in April 2022, has a Bachelor's Degree from Montclair State University, and previously worked as a Class II Special Law Enforcement Officer for the North Wildwood Police Department. Officer Smith has been assigned to the Uniform Services Division.

  2. East Windsor Township Encourages Residents to Support and Participate in Womanspace "Communities of Light" Scheduled for Monday, December 5. Citizens and businesses can participate and support Womanspace by purchasing candles and gathering with local elected officials and police on Monday, December 5 at 5 P.M. to light up the East Windsor Municipal Building. Luminary kits, containing six candles each, can be purchased for $10 at any time at the East Windsor Police/Court Building (80 One Mile Road) and bringing the luminary kits to the event. All proceeds will go 100% directly to Womanspace, the primary Mercer County organization providing a comprehensive array of services to individuals affected by domestic violence and dedicated to improving the quality of life of abuse victims and their families.     Purchase "Communities of Light" luminary kits, with six candles, at the East Windsor Police/Municipal Court Building (80 One Mile Road) for $10 to raise funds for Womanspace. East Windsor officials and citizens will assemble on Monday, December 5 at 5 P.M. to light up the East Windsor Municipal Building, as a beacon of hope for the victims of domestic violence and their families.
  3. East Windsor Township Offers COVID-19 Vaccination and Boosters Including Bivalent Booster Clinic on Tuesday, December 6 from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. at Hickory Corner Branch Library (138 Hickory Corner Road). Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will be available, as well as bivalent booster doses for those who are eligible. Vaccinations and Pfizer boosters will be available for children ages 5 and older.   4. East Windsor and Hightstown Mayors Co-Hosted Better Beginnings "Shining Star" Charity Gala, and recognized the 2022 "Shining Star" honorees for their contributions to our community: Peter and Kathleen Wise, Lifetime Achiever Award; East Windsor Green Team, Organization Award; Hightstown Women's Club, Organization Award; Perkins Restaurant and Bakery, Business Award; Dick Cunningham, Celebration of Life, and Dennis McClary, Celebration of Life. The gala event is a charity fundraiser for Better Beginnings, a local child care development, which began in 1967 and provides quality affordable pre-school, after school and summer programs to area children.

  5. East Windsor Township Mayor and Council Encourage Citizens to Volunteer for Township Boards and Committees. Citizens can apply to serve on the Clean Communities Advisory Committee, Commission on Aging, East Windsor Municipal Utilities Authority, Economic Development Committee, Environmental Commission, Health Advisory Board, Planning Board, Recreation Commission, Zoning Board of Adjustment and the East Windsor Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse.   6. High School Students Invited to Serve as Student Members of East Windsor Township Boards and Commissions. The boards and commissions included in the program are Commission on Aging, Clean Communities Committee, Economic Development Commission, Environmental Commission, Health Advisory Committee and Recreation Commission, as well as the East Windsor Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse. High school students who wish to be considered should submit a letter indicating their area of interest and reasons or related background, by email to clerk@east-windsor.nj.us, by fax to (609) 443-8303 or by mail to Mayor Janice S.   7. Final Township Fall Leaf Collection Passes Begin Monday, November 28. Leaf Collection for Area #1 AND Area #2 residents will begin on Monday, November 28 and end on Friday, December 16. The final passes will cover both areas through December 16 or until the first significant snowfall. In prior years, additional passes were made through both areas due to a very successful program and very cooperative weather conditions. Public Works will strive to continue making extra passes in 2022. Leaves may not be put out after Wednesday, December 14 to allow crews to finish the final pass by December 16.
  8. No Township Curbside Garbage Collection Will Occur on Thursday, November 24 and Friday, November 25 and All Township Offices Will Be CLOSED due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Garbage Collection for Area #1 residents, normally, on Thursday, November 24, will be on the next scheduled collection day of Monday, November 28. Garbage Collection for Area #2 residents, normally on Friday, November 25, will be on the next scheduled collection date of Tuesday, November 29.
