For the past several summers, spotted lanternflies have been invading Mercer County, becoming especially more active and visible in July. Since these invasive insects are a threat to local crops, the NJ Department of Agriculture has called on residents to squash and scrape spotted lanternflies wherever they see them to help eradicate their spread.
