  1. East Windsor Township Encourages Residents to Support and Participate in Womanspace "Communities of Light" Scheduled for Monday, December 2. Citizens and businesses can participate and support Womanspace by purchasing candles, bringing the luminary kits and gathering with local elected officials and police on Monday, December 2 at 5 P.M. to light up the East Windsor Municipal Building. Luminary kits, containing six candles each, can be purchased for $10 at any time at the East Windsor Police/Court Building (80 One Mile Road). All proceeds will go 100% directly to Womanspace, the primary Mercer County organization providing a comprehensive array of services to individuals and families impacted by domestic violence and is dedicated to improving the quality of life of abuse victims and their families.   2. East Windsor Township Was Awarded $490,932 NJ Department of Transportation Grant for Roadway Improvements to Abbington Drive, Lake Drive and Portions of Milford Road. The Township over the coming months will proceed with the NJDOT mandated engineering work and further project details will follow next year. Township officials recently have applied for and successfully received several other NJDOT roadway grants, including $382,968 for improvements to Dorchester Drive from Dutch Neck Road to the end and Dutch Neck Road from the West Windsor border to Hickory Corner Road. The engineering work has been completed and is awaiting approval by the NJDOT, so the project then can be bid in 2025. Additionally, the Township was awarded a $950,000 NJDOT grant for Greenbrook Drive and Connecting Streets -- Marilyn Drive, Hope Valley Drive and Meadowview Drive, a project which was just completed. The Township also was awarded a $833,860 NJDOT grant for Beechcroft Road and Connecting Streets -- Hemlock Court, Brooklawn Drive, Ivy Lane East, Glenwood Circle and Meadowbrook Drive, a project which also was recently completed.
  3. East Windsor Township Mayor and Council Encourage Citizens to Volunteer for Township Boards and Committees. Citizens can apply to serve on the Clean Communities Advisory Committee, Commission on Aging, East Windsor Municipal Utilities Authority, Economic Development Committee, Environmental Commission, Health Advisory Board, Planning Board, Recreation Commission, Zoning Board of Adjustment and the East Windsor Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse.   4. High School Students Invited to Serve as Student Members of East Windsor Township Boards and Commissions. The boards and commissions included in the program are Commission on Aging, Clean Communities Committee, Economic Development Commission, Environmental Commission, Health Advisory Committee and Recreation Commission, as well as the East Windsor Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse. High school students who wish to be considered should submit a letter indicating their area of interest and reasons or related background, by email to clerk@east-windsor.nj.us, by fax to (609) 443-8303 or by mail to Mayor Janice S.   5. REMINDER: All Township Offices Will Be CLOSED due to the Thanksgiving Holiday on Thursday, November 28 and Friday, November 29. No Township Curbside Garbage Collection Will Occur on Thursday, November 28 and Friday, November 29. Garbage Collection for Area #1 residents, normally, on Thursday, November 28, will be on the next scheduled collection day of Monday. December 2. Garbage Collection for Area #2 residents, normally on Friday, November 29, will be on the next scheduled collection date of Tuesday, December 3.   6. REMINDER: Leaf Collection for Area #1 AND Area #2 residents has begun and will end on Friday, December 13. The final passes will cover both areas through December 13 or until the first significant snowfall. In prior years, additional passes were made through both areas due to a very successful program and very cooperative weather conditions. Public Works will strive to continue making extra passes in 2024. Leaves may not be put out after Wednesday, December 11 to allow crews to finish the final pass by December 13.
