  1. REMINDER: Mayor Janice S. Mironov and Council Members Sponsor Recycling Day Event TOMORROW Saturday, April 5 from 10 A.M. to 1 P.M., Rain or Shine, at the East Windsor Senior Center (40 Lanning Boulevard). Free paper shredding services to securely dispose of unneeded personal documents and confidential files will be available, until the shredding truck is full, to East Windsor Residents Only. No commercial documents, there is a limit of ten boxes per household. Plastic film recycling is available as part of the "Trex Recycling Challenge".Trex sponsors an annual challenge program rewarding groups who collect more than 500 pounds of plastics within six months with a free bench. Plastic materials accepted include bread bags, grocery bags, air pillows, ziploc, bubble wrap, produce bags, dry cleaning bags, shipping envelopes and newspaper sleeves. Electronic recycling is available for computers, computer monitors, laptops, VCR's and televisions. Also accepted for drop-off are fluorescent bulbs, cell phones and printer cartridges. No other electrical items will be accepted. RISE will be on site to collect usable furniture, clothing, blankets and working household appliances and electronics.   2. Annual East Windsor Egg Hunt Is Scheduled for Saturday, April 5 at 10:30 A.M., at Etra Lake Park (rain date is Sunday, April 6 at 10:30 A.M.). The egg hunt is for children in pre-school through Grade 5. This annual event features lots of candy, prizes, and fun! There is no fee or registration, but each child should bring a basket or bag.   3. LAST CALL: Township Accepting Applications from Residents for Participation in the 2025 East Windsor Community Garden. The Community Garden is located on the Disbrow Hill Road Park open space property, adjacent to the Disbrow Hill playing fields and across from Etra Lake Park. The Community Garden provides residents with the opportunity to rent a plot of land to plant their own fruits and vegetables. Applications for 2025 garden plots will be prioritized to residents who rented plots in 2024, and other resident applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.   4. East Windsor Township Soliciting Nominations for Annual "Sylvia Weiss Senior Citizen Award for Outstanding Service as a Volunteer." The Award is to recognize a senior citizen who has exhibited outstanding service through volunteerism to the community by way of the schools, religious institutions, service organizations or directly to the public. This service can be in leadership or in direct service. Nominees must be at least 60 years of age and residents of East Windsor. The award is named after Sylvia Weiss, a former East Windsor Township Council Member, past Council senior citizen advisor and chairperson of the Commission on Aging, who was instrumental in the original formation of the senior citizen program. Local individuals and organizations are encouraged to nominate a senior citizen for this honor. The deadline to submit a nomination is Monday, April 14, 2025.   5. East Windsor Sponsors Recycling Poster Contest for Local Elementary School Students for Earth Day. The theme of the poster is to promote any of the "4 Rs" of the Township Recycling Program Logo, which are: RECYCLE all items that can be recycled; REUSE other items rather than throw them out in the trash; REDUCE materials into homes that then have to be disposed of, and REBUY - i.e., buy goods that use recycled materials. Posters should be left by Wednesday April 9, at the East Windsor Municipal Building Mayor's Office. Participants should be certain to provide on the back of each poster the student's name, address, phone number, grade level, parent/guardian E-mail address and school attended. Contest winners will be notified and awards, including gift certificate to Barnes and Noble donated by Shiseido, will be made by Mayor Janice S. Mironov at an Earth Day ceremony. Winning posters will be displayed in the municipal building lobby.
  6. Stream Cleanup Co-Sponsored by The Watershed Institute and East Windsor Township on Saturday, April 26, from 9 A.M. to 11 A.M. at Etra Lake Park, Rain or Shine. Pre-registration is preferred (CLICK HERE). Volunteers should wear long pants, closed-toed shoes and long sleeves, and bring work gloves. Trash bags will be provided. Adults must accompany minors.   7. PUBLIC NOTICE: East Windsor Municipal Utilities Authority (EWMUA) Is Conducting Semi-Annual Hydrant Flushing to remove sediment from pipes, monitor water flows and pressures, and provide visual inspection of the hydrants during overnight hours on the following dates. This schedule is subject to change due to conflicting work that must be done by EWMUA personnel. According to the EWMUA, customers may notice a drop in water pressure or may experience discolored water. At no time will the water quality be compromised, and the water is safe to use.
